Wessex Resins and Adhesives enhances testing capabilities with new research and development laboratory

Wessex Resins and Adhesives is building a state-of-the-art research and development laboratory to enhance its testing capabilities. The purpose-built temperature controlled laboratory will be equipped with new sophisticated analytical and testing instruments, including a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and a dynamic mechanical analyser (DMA).

The lab will allow the Company to offer more comprehensive testing of a wide range of products for existing customers, as well as opening up potential new partnerships.

“This new R&D lab is a huge investment for us and part of Wessex Resins’ continual development,” says Dr Jackie Lane, the Company’s Technical Director and Chief Chemist. “We’ll be able to extend the testing capability offered to our customers and qualify products for new applications.

“We’ll also be able to investigate the potential to improve existing products by modifying the formulations to include new chemicals which come onto the market,” says Jackie. “This continual improvement and development of new products is what really sets us apart from the other companies. It’s an investment demonstrating our commitment to providing first-class customer service.”

The new lab also brings the prospect of more jobs. Wessex Resins is expecting to recruit at least three new employees this year, with the possibility of more in the future.

“The facility is exciting because it’s opening up so many possibilities and means we can continue to utilise the latest technological developments to target the needs of niche markets.”
